A new commercial bank is poised to set up shop in Botswana before the end of the year, bringing to seven the number of such institutions in the country.

According to a statement from the Bank of Botswana (BoB) PRO Chepete Chepete, the new bank, Capital Bank Limited, was granted an operating licence  in December last year and is expected to start operations before year-end.

"It is hereby notified for the general information of the public that in accordance with section 3(1) of the Banking Act, Capital Bank Limited has been granted  a licence with effect from December 27  to transact commercial banking business in Botswana.
