Mining licences on the increase

Botswana's Diamond production for the 2006-2007 financial year increased to 34.3 million carats from 31,8 million carats in the previous period, the Department of Mines(DoM) has reported.

The department's annual report reveals that semi- precious stones amounted to 65 tonnes in the period under review, whilst revenue also surged 13 percent.

Mineral revenues include royalties, dividends, annual charges for mining leases and sundries.
