Kenyan Minister says co-ops must transform lives

Savings and credit cooperative societies have been advised to think outside the box if they are to have an impact on the country's economy.

Addressing stakeholders in the SACCO Leaders Forum at GICC last Thursday, Kenya's Minister of Cooperative and Marketing Development, Joseph Nyagah, said Botswana's co-op sector must use its economic model to move people out of poverty.

The objective of the forum is to promote dynamic and effective leadership within cooperative financial institutions, encourage effective management and promote sustainable financial assistance. The Kenyan minister said African countries should change their perceptions and find ways in which they can be economically sustainable.
