The government has invested P69.7 million to bring the East Africa Submarine Cable System (EASSy) to Botswana, thus enabling local users to access the Internet at one of the world's fastest speeds and creating an environment for lower connectivity costs.

EASSy is an undersea fibre optic cable connecting more than 16 east and southern African countries. The cable has high-speed data capability, allowing for faster Internet services to the participating countries.

Live in Botswana since December, the cable brings more diversity of Internet connectivity, suggesting a lowering of access charges for data and voice services.
