Government has appealed to the private sector to consider investing in residential property development significantly as part of the national housing strategy that aims at providing affordable and decent accommodation for Batswana.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of Thobo Hamlet and Talana Park Extension in Phakalane recently, the Assistant Minister of Education, Keletso Rakhudu, said government believes that private sector participation is cardinal in home ownership provision.

"We will partner with the private sector to design home ownership packages that are within the reach of Batswana as part of the national housing strategy and citizen economic empowerment," he said. He noted that government cannot single-handedly meet all the socio-economic needs of citizens, saying economic diversification is a shared responsibility and the government is encouraged when citizen investors take bold steps to maximise available opportunities.
