Gabs hosts SADC meeting

The second steering committee meeting of the SADC Groundwater and Drought Management Project (GDMP) will be held next week at the Grand Palm Hotel in Gaborone, Botswana.

The meeting takes place on Tuesday and Wednesday. It will be attended by stakeholders from SADC states and collaborating partners in groundwater and drought management.

The GDMP is one of the sub-projects under the regional Groundwater Management Programme, (GMP) within the SADC Regional Strategic Water Action Plan. About 37 percent of the population in the SADC region rely on formal or improved groundwater supplies while 23 percent depend on reticulated supplies from surface water sources.
