EU funds fourteen NGOs

In partnership with the government, the European Union (EU) has awarded grants amounting to P6.8 million to 14 different Non-State Actors (NSAs) from around the country as part of a Capacity Building Programme.

The awards ceremony, which was held at GICC on Wednesday, also marked the result of the fifth and last call for proposals under the partnership project that will be concluded by the end of this year. Speaking at the ceremony, outgoing head of the EU delegation to Botswana and SADC, Ambassador Paul Malin, said he was so far humbled by the achievements of the programme with regards to reaching out to NSAs and their beneficiaries throughout the country.

Ambassador Malin said the programme had made him realise that good collaboration between civil society organisations and the government could unlock additional benefits, and thus improve the effectiveness of both.
