Although the Botswana Stock Exchange (BSE) grew massively in 2006, there are hints of concerns over flouting of regulation at the bourse by listed companies, according to the BSE annual report for the past year.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for BSE, Hiran Mendis, says in the recently published report that the BSE has noted with concern that compliance by listed companies to the listing rules has been 'slack'. Mendis reveals in the report that although BSE listing rules require companies to submit a compliance certificate annually, only one company out of the 29 listed companies complied with the requirement.

On the same note, the CEO observes that companies are required to disclose the corporate governance code they subscribe to and indicate the extent of compliance with such codes in the annual report.
