Botswana slips four places in Global Competitiveness Report

For the third year in a row, Botswana has fallen down the rungs of the Global Competitiveness Report, slipping four places to 80 in a field of 142 countries, the latest edition of the publication has revealed.

Unveiled yesterday, the Global Competitiveness Report (GCR) 2011-2012 is the world's most authoritative comparative assessment of competitiveness between nations and is used as a benchmark tool for policy makers and business leaders.

Compiled by the World Economic Forum (WEF) in collaboration with researchers from each country assessed, GCR ranks countries on 12 competitiveness pillars revolving around factors such as infrastructure, labour, technology, financial markets and macroeconomic stability.
