Barclays fills funding gap for small businesses

The Local Enterprise Authority (LEA) has closed the funding gap for small businesses by means of a Memorandum of Understanding with Barclays Bank of Botswana that will come into operation soon.

Speaking at the signing ceremony that was held at the LEA head office in Gaborone, its Chief Executive Officer Tebogo Matome said it had always been their wish to close the funding gap.

"We had taken a conscious effort as LEA that we were not going to go as far as funding small businesses. Therefore, we needed a strategic partner to fund (them)," Matome said.
