Bank Gaborone concerned about household indebtedness

Bank Gaborone says it is concerned by the level of unsecured household indebtedness. The bank however says customers are partly to blame as some of them are not honest with their financial records.

In an interview with Mmegi Business yesterday, Bank Gaborone Managing Director Andre Bernard said the bank's loan book increased by 11% to P2.128 billion for the financial year ended 30 June 2013, although unsecured lending stood at 10%.

"Household indebtedness is a concern for Bank Gaborone, but together, the bank and customers, should work hand in hand to curb this concern," he said.
