African Energy in P30m takeover of Mmamantswe

Mining junior, African Energy Resources announced yesterday it had entered into a binding agreement to acquire Aviva Corporation's Mmamantswe energy project for Aus$3.5 million (P29.5 million).

African Energy Resources and Aviva are both based in Australia and are listed Botswana Stock Exchange (BSE) coal energy developers with advanced projects in eastern Botswana.

The deal between them gives African Energy Resources (AFR) access to Mmamantswe's 1.3 billion tonnes of thermal coal, 895 million tonnes of probable reserves and advanced studies for a coal mine, export project and power station.The new assets add onto AFR's own 2.5 billion tonnes of estimated coal resources at its Sese project, located 50 kilometres from Francistown.
