The Bolux Group has announced the closure of its biscuit manufacturing plant.

The company, which is based in Ramotswa, says the decision will affect at least 100 jobs and that it will explore all possible alternatives to support them.

According to the company, which is a major employer in Ramotswa and its environs, the decision also follows a business strategy review that will see non-core business units being either disposed of or shut down. In a statement released this week, Bolux says current market conditions, regulations regarding the procurement of grain, changes in global technical trends, demographic changes in Botswana and the availability of specialised skills have contributed to the decision to close down the biscuit plant.
