Young poet all out to promote Ikalanga language

FRANCISTOWN: Ikalanga poet Unopa Khole has three books already published and more are in the pipeline.

Unlike her peers, who shun or avoid speaking Ikalanga, especially when they get older and think they are too sophisticated for the language, the 26-year-old Khole is different. She says she developed her passion for the language when she was in high school, collecting some awards and penning a poem for former president Festus Mogae along the way.

"When I was at school I loved English Literature and when I finished I developed an interest in poetry especially Ikalanga poetry," he said.
