What a refreshing women's day it was

The spotlight was on women the world over on Thursday with the annual celebration of International Women's Day.

The Alliance Franaise of Gaborone ensured that not only were women celebrated but that they had a chance to share their preoccupations and concerns in a refreshing manner. The organisation assembled well-known poets, and upcoming ones for a slam and poetry session titled Deal And Dis-Le (Let's Talk About Women).

Some of the issues brought up during the performances include motherhood, homage to mothers, women's worth and rape. Women were also extolled for being "mothers of the nation."
