Tribute to our heroes

In Setswana, people of such stature are called bagaka and local borankana musician Onkemetse Monyere, who goes by the stage name Ezebizo, is due to release an album in honour of such people. The single is called Bagaka and it is already on national radio stations.

According to Ezebizo, such hero status should not only be reserved for outstanding figures in politics, music and sports."There are so many heroes who have done incredible things and those people deserve a salute. Take a woman who raises a family alone or someone who defeats challenges such as poverty to make a life for himself and even others," Ezebizo said. The 30-year-old Gabane man started with a group called Mathaithai. Its debut album 'Maropeng' failed to make any impact, so they disbanded.
