The mystery of the hidden Herero bride

The centrepiece of every wedding is always the bride and the expectation is that a bride should look outstanding than anyone present at the wedding including the groom.

However, with the Herero culture there is a bit of a twist to that.  A part of the Herero culture which distinguishes them from the rest of the tribes, is the way their wedding is conducted right from the bride price negotiations until the actual wedding day.

Through the negotiations, the bride-to-be remains under wraps away from the public eye and on the actual wedding day she still remains under wraps under a veil for the whole day.  Although the practice might have changed over the years, it still remains the norm to some people within the Herero culture who still uphold the traditional wedding practices to date.
