Show passion for your country in Miss Vision 2016

Organisers of the newly introduced Miss Vision 2016 beauty pageant insist they would focus on brains and passion for one's country in their search for the woman who reflects the pageant's ideals. Miss Vision 2016 pageant is expected to take place at the Gaborone International Conference Centre (GICC) on August 16.

"We have decide to make it a pageant with a difference. It is about the celebration of the national vision.  We want to select a woman with brains, one that will show the passion for the country and dreams for its success; we do not necessarily need a beautiful woman," media liaison officer Nelson Serumola told Showbiz.  The auditions for the competition will be held Saturday at President Hotel in Gaborone and Sunday at Botsalo Hotel in Palaye.  The winner will get a chance to travel to New York for a leadership attachment in the United States of America (US) through the Tebelelo Seretse Leadership Programme.  "We believe in the saying that 'Go ruta mosadi' ke go ruta sechaba and we expect the winner to go all out to teach the nation about the vision. Right now 90 percent of our population is aware of the national vision but only 13 percent are trying to live it," Serumola said.  On her return from New York, the winner is expected to choose one of the seven Vision 2016 pillars to focus on.

However, those who fail to make the final cut would still get an opportunity to tour the country and show the nation their awareness of the vision by taking part in various activities in line with the national vision.  "In the build-up to the final we would take them on a national tour, which we hope would expose them to the realities of Vision 2016 and that we hope will also guide us as to who could make it among the 16 that would qualify after the auditions," Serumola said.
