SA's Freshlyground billed to perform at GICC

Popular South African group Freshlyground, will be performing in Gaborone for two days at the end of September.

The seven-member group, who have won the hearts of many revellers globally with their unique, sensational tunes, which fuse indigenous African sounds and contemporary urban styles such as afro-pop and dance music, are billed to perform at the Gaborone International Convention Centre (GICC)on September 29-30.

Freshlyground's performances in Gaborone have always pulled crowds regardless of the cover charge.  The group gives sterling performances blending a number of instruments, which include flute, violin, mbira, harmonica, saxophone, keyboard, percussion, drums, bass guitar, electric and acoustic guitar, thereby producing harmonious sounds; not forgetting the beautiful angelic voice of lead singer, Zolani Mahola.  The show, which will coincide with Botswana's  44th independence anniversary celebrations, will feature local heavyweights in their respective music genres.  On the first day (September 29), the Freshlyground show will feature performances by popular Kalanga folk artist Ndingo Johwa whose music is loved and respected by many.  Jazz muso Tumediso "Shanti-Lo" Loeto - whose stylish performances have also won the hearts of many music lovers - will be the next on the line-up.  The two shows are nicely packaged as the second night will feature jazz musician Lister Boloseng and renowned Molepolole folk-singer Malefho Mokha, who is popularly known as Stampore.
