Posters honouring women

The top 100 posters from around the world as part of the Poster for Tomorrow movement were on display at the end of 2012.

You now have a second chance to see them as the exhibit opened again to honour International Women's Day at the Alliance Franaise across from the University of Botswana.  This is a unique opportunity to view world-class posters by young artists from all over the world. It is fascinating to see how they have interpreted the theme.

For the "Gender Equality Now!" poster competition a prominent committee of judges from 10 countries met in Paris and selected the best 100 posters from among 3,020 submissions received from 105 countries including Botswana (up a few hundred above last year's contest).2012 was the second year Botswana participated in Poster for Tomorrow and the fourth year of this worldwide event.  Last year only one poster from Botswana made it into the top 300 posters.  It was by Nicola Holgate, a local designer who represents the NGO Poster for Tomorrow in Botswana.  Various advance workshops were held to help artists, designers and others "in finding their own strong creative voice".
