Phane is terrible, tastes like dog food - Mma Ramotswe

The character who plays Mma Ramotswe in the movie, The No.1 Ladies Detective Agency, Jill Scott, has done both the character she plays, Precious Ramotswe and the Botswana culture a public relations disaster when she described the country's popular traditional delicacy, phane, as terrible and compared its taste to dog food.

In a wide ranging interview with the UK Guardian, Jill Scott, often hailed for her role in the movies based on The No.1 Ladies Detective Agency series, however, chose to spite Mma Ramotswe's delicacies, the phane worms, which also happen to be one of Batswana's favourite delicacies.

Batswana would feel the artist and actress, whose stardom was further catapulted by the Mma Ramotswe movie, could have been more courteous in her discussion of her dislike for phane.
