Newsreader Mothobi set to conquer the world

He introduces himself as if I do not already know who he is - one of the most popular newsreaders in Botswana.

Many people find themselves rushing from work just to be home in time to watch the latest news about their country and around the world, and Treasure Mothobi is among the amazing anchors that bring this information to the people, for some it's a dream job but for Mothobi is a profession.  Although his childhood dream was to become a lawyer, it is plainly news reading that has propelled him to stardom. There is definitely more to this 30-something-year-old than meets the eye.

Being raised by a single parent (mother), Mothobi was born and breed in Selebi-Phikwe, Central District. He finished his Cambridge in 1999 at Selebi-Phikwe Senior Secondary School. He describes himself in his childhood days as that kid who always made noise in class but who was serious about learning, as he never bunked school or classes. "I was a very disciplined child," he reminisces. He grew up a very confident child as in Standard Seven he took part in a beauty contest where he and his partner got position two for the Best couple award. The news reading talent goes back even though at first he did it out of pleasure; he remembers his high school days when he used to read news for the general assembly. "I would gather news about almost anything educational and read them out in assembly," he points out.
