New fashion label, Street Smart Gear launched

Despite the collapse of many fashion labels in the country, budding entrepreneurs-cum-designers, Pululu Thapelo and Pako Molefinyane have launched a new label namely, Street Smart Gear.

The designers say that their concept is different from others that came before it because they are going to produce different designs. "We are going to make an array of designs and our potential clients are going to be spoilt for choice," said the 27-year-old Thapelo in an interview with Showbiz adding that they intend to have many "funny designs" and "interesting graphics" to choose from. He further said unlike their competitors in the market, they are not going to have a repetition of designs, which will most definitely make them outclass their peers.

"The downfall of many labels that came before us is that there was a constant repetition of designs and in the end their clients got bored. Another thing is that the so-called designs only entailed logos which is a turn off," said Thapelo adding that he believes that Street Smart Gear has what it takes to be a success. The Gaborone-based entrepreneurs say that they have been saving money for months to finance the project and that they are going to cut production costs by doing most of the work themselves.
