The annual French event, Fete de la Musique that is in its 11th year in Botswana left an everlasting impression last Saturday at Botswanacraft.

The outdoor music show, which started in the afternoon and went on until midnight, proved just how much talent there is in Botswana. New and upcoming bands performed and surpassed all expectations with their skills onstage. The likes of Harmonic Angel, a folk band that was formed sometime in March could have been mistaken for old players in the game. The pint-sized lead singer Mimi Moje outdid herself when she sang legendary George Swabi’s Dikeledi with much grace. Concrete Village on the other hand dished out poetry and music-infused performances. Other upcoming talents who nailed their performances are Khwezi, Moonga and The Perfect Band, Peach Keremang, Rainbow Marimba Band and Mmaphala among others.

With over 40 artists lined up for the music extravaganza, the artists kept everyone on their feet. Songbird Samantha Mogwe, who is at the peak of her career, left no stone unturned. She even did a number that she sang in French.Kabo Leburu, Shanti Lo, Mophato Dance Theatre also did their bit well.Visiting unorthodox South African group, The Brother Moves On, who came as a surprise to the crowd, managed to win themselves new fans after their performance. American country ensemble The Venture Moody band, appealed to the more mature audience.
