Enthusiasts played with their joy pads in front of television monitors in a first-ever FIFA 13 tournament to be hosted here.The spectacle attracted FIFA 13 maniacs and Africa's highest rated player Rebaone Moiketsi, who flew all the way from the UK on Friday to take part in Botswana's inaugural PS2 event. It was Mdumico Nthombeni, 22 of the University of Botswana, who was crowned the champion at the end of the day in the fun event that attracted 32 competitors and many fans. For Moiketsi the fun goes on, he say the next stop will be New York City in March, for a $400,000-sponsored fun. He says he was excited that Botswana has at last joined the rest of the world in this fun activity. He however hopes to be part of the organising committee here for the next spectacle. "People don't know that there are actually world cup qualifiers for the FIFA play station games, with finals graced by real life superstars like Leo Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo".
Moiketsi who jetted back to England on Sunday says he however did not like the fact that fellow competitors fixed results just to see him out. "I am angry and happy at the same time, but they openly colluded to ensure that I don't go far in the game," he said, adding, "But I see a lot of talented guys here whom I'm surprised don't feature anywhere in the rankings; maybe that's because they don't play over the internet here because internet is very slow here. But they are really good."
