Gemstones keen to open new frontiers for local models

Aspiring models, singers, dancers, actors, and television hosts, with dreams of success far beyond Botswana borders, have been given yet another chance to enter a talent search that should help them successfully launch their careers.

Throughout history modelling has been associated more with the tall and slender, to a point that some models in trying to meet the set goals have found themselves developing life threatening eating disorders, including anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa.  A local company Gemstones, is on a search for the best models, singers, dancers, actors, and TV hosts, but don't count yourself out of the race simply because you are short, full-figured or have passed the usual age required for modelling as Gemstones is ready to open new frontiers for you if you have what it takes to shake the modelling world.

Speaking to Arts & Culture in an interview, Gemstones Managing Director, Colin Nawala explained in Gaborone that for 2011 they decided to revamp the search by including other talents, who were initially not part of their talent search.  He excitedly mentioned that while many already have a perception that to be a model one has to be tall and slender, they have extended their search to individuals passionate about modelling with dreams of making it big in the modelling industry.
