Dikakapa will be back with a bang - Lekone

Not much was heard about local traditional dancing troupe, Dikakapa, which used to be a force to reckon with in the local music industry.

The foot-stomping traditional dancers were so good during their hey day that the group was even nominated for a Kora award at some stage.  But it seems that 2011 was not a hectic period for the group. One of the group's senior members, Moagi Lekone attributed their silence to the slump in the local music industry last year.  He said last year the sales of music in the country had decreased.  In his view, it was not a good period for local music.

Lekone said last year was generally quiet for local music, adding that even the attendances at local festivals were at an all-time low.  He said their group was also affected by these negative developments in local music.   But Lekone revealed that even though they did not release any albums last year, they staged a number of shows, some in late December.
