British High Commission holds photo exhibition

The British High Commission held the British royal family's photo exhibition outside their offices in the Gaborone Main Mall for the whole week as part of celebrations of the Diamond Jubilee that started on June 4 and it is ongoing.

The British High Commission celebrates both the Queen's birthday and her 60th year on the throne."We have conducted a series of activities to celebrate.  That includes photo exhibitions to show the younger generation our relationship between Britain and Botswana.We want them to look back and reflect on where we come from. The two countries have a strong connection," Keba Tsie, British High Commission Gaborone Press Officer told Showbiz. 

The exhibition showed the pictures of Queen Elizabeth II and the other royal family member's visit to Botswana and other African countries between 1947 and 2011.Queen Elizabeth's first visit to Botswana was in 1947 when she came with her parents, the then Queen Elizabeth I and her father King George.  At the time she was a 21-year-old princess. She went on to celebrate her birthday in Cape Town, South Africa.
