Phemelo ‘Fresh’ Lesokwane, who was recently suspended for eight years from BOMU for allegedly lobbying members to disrupt the smooth running of the organisation and creating unauthorised communications with
BOMU internal structures, has accused the leadership of witch-hunting.Lesokwane, who has been the chairperson
of the organisation’s Procurement and Disposal committee, is accused of influencing District Chapters of the union to create unauthorised communication. A letter signed by the disciplinary committee chairperson Phempheretlhe Pheto dated March 8, 2013 found Lesokwane guilty and concluded that he would be, among other things, relieved ofthe position of additional member of the executive committee.
He is also suspended for 16 months and would be barred from any BOMU activities.The kwasa kwasa musician is also barred from standing for elections, attending annual general meetings, voting, awards, and festivals for three years. On top of that he would not be allowed to sit on any of the committees or play any administrative role for five years after completion of his ban.Amid allegations of a witch-hunt, Lesokwane has accused the executive of trying to punish him for raising pertinent issues in the aftermath of the controversial handling of last year’s awards.
