AmanH116 off to Lilongwe

Local fashion designer, Bonno Lauryn Kebualemang, founder of budding clothing brand AmanH116, links up with Malawi's leading Hip Hop label NyaliMusik this week and the two are expected to seal a partnership. Kebualemang flew to Lilongwe yesterday for a 10-day visit that will culminate in sealing the deal.

Malawi's multi-talented entertainer, Kevin Gumbi, who is popularly known as KBG, heads NyaliMusik.  He was in the country early in February.  "They extended an invite to me personally, and my company, AmanH116, to partner with them in a venture to enlighten other young people. One does not have to mount a pulpit to change people's lives," Kebualemang told Showbiz.  She said the purpose of the trip was to go link up with the group and establish the partnership. "This trip is very important to me because it will not only be an opportunity for me to go and cement our partnership, but it will also be a learning curve, an opportunity to see what other young people are doing for God, what ways they combat the challenges that one faces in this walk, and also a chance to get fresh ideas, fresh inspiration, because I have never been to Malawi before."She added that she wants to use some of the inspiration she will get during the visit on her designs. KBG, a TV/radio presenter, producer, sound engineer and rapper said they were excited about Kebualemang's visit. He said they had asked her to bring her t-shirt designs to showcase them at some of the events they have planned. The development is an opportunity for the talented designer to take her brand to the people in Malawi.

The Malawian performed the track Nangula in his ChiChewa language when he came to Gaborone. The raps were written by his fellow countryman, David Kalilani, who did not make the trip to Gaborone.Kebualemang will also meet with Kalilani, arguably Malawi's Hip Hop leading light.
