Splash take Lions Park by storm

Forget about the power failure that delayed the proceedings until after 1:00 am on Sunday, the irate fans throwing bottles on stage, the Splash festival at the Lions Park was just what the disco fans were looking for.

The gig, which was billed to kick off at 1600 on Saturday, only started the following morning because of power failure. While technicians including Botswana Power Corporation (BPC) handymen worked hard to address the problem, more and more fans were arriving at the venue.  But after 12 midnight people were starting to lose  patience and bottles started flying around and a few band members who were on stage trying to fine-tune the sound system had to dash for cover.

But some people have their way of cooling things off and sensing that the agitated fans would not listen to the MC, Patricia Majalisa stepped onto the stage and appealed to the fans to remain calm and promised that "things would be okay". She was soon followed by the band's leader Dan Tshanda and the two managed to control the situation. The problems of poor sound and power failure have been dogging Splash from Selebi-Phikwe and Molapowabojang but it was not expected to surface at the Lions Park. But once it was addressed at the last show, revellers were given what they deserved, clear sound and rousing performances from all the artistes.
