It was a place to be if you wanted to catch up on current affairs. It was mostly frequented by mature patrons. It was the joint where the enlightened town folk preferred to have their drinks.
It was a kind of a pub where there was no juke box. There used to be a small radio, which was mainly for news. You could not find a noisy bunch at Barney's or loud music blaring from car speakers.
