O icheke, as DJs battle it out in Phikwe

Some of Botswana's best DJs are expected to rock the copper mining town of Selebi-Phikwe this month end. The event is a build-up to the 2008 World AIDS Day, which will be commemorated in Selebi-Phikwe on December 1. President Ian Khama will be the guest of honour.

Zenzele Hirschfieldt of Zen Promotions, who is organising it, said that some of the DJs slated for the Friday gig are Obakeng Mokobi, popularly known as Obza, of RB2, Francistown's most sought after DJ Bunz, real name Peter Gaetsewe, and DJ Double-H of Selebi-Phikwe. The event is dubbed O iCheke Battle of the DJs.


The battle of the turntable kings will be held at Makhubu Club pool side at Area Two where there will also be an on-site voluntary HIV/AIDS counselling and testing by Tebelopele.Obza commands a huge listening base especially from the youth who listen to his RB2 show.
