No Intellectual Property division yet, says police chief

Police Commissioner Thebeyame Tsimako says the Botswana Police Service has no division exclusively for Intellectual Property violation.

He was responding to Mmegi enquiries on whether what Botswana Music Union (BOMU) secretary general Nkgopolang Thomelang told last week's BOMU annual general meeting (AGM) that they were working closely with "a newly formed police branch for Intellectual Property to fight all copyright related crimes" was true.

 
Thomelang stated that through the newly formed police division, BOMU had been able to report 12 cases involving violation of intellectual property rights, and that two of the cases were now with the High Court in Lobatse.
