Nation Doing Little To Jack Up Music In Schools

Not much publicity has been given to the schools' music competitions held in Serowe over the President's Day holidays.

But that should not stop us from asking questions about the apparent boycott of the event by the private sector.

How much is the private sector contributing towards the good running of the music contests which help to complete the cycle of education for most students, many of whom would never have access to interaction with their peers at that a large scale? Many years ago, this column asked if it were not possible that Metro or Sefalana could contribute food for the students. It is not possible for Kgalagadi Breweries Limited (KBL) to donate soft drinks towards the competitions?
Why shouldn't the state media broadcast some selected presentations from the competitions?
