Moeding College Wins Power In The Voice

Six local schools have qualified for the Power In The Voice grand finale to be held early next year.

The six are Moeding College, Maruapula Secondary, Marang CJSS, Bokamoso CJSS, Lobatse Senior Secondary and Rainbow Private Secondary schools. According to the director of the British Council (Botswana) Stephen Forbes, Power In The Voice is a series of events happening over three years, celebrating people finding their voice and experiencing themselves. Forbes explained that the programme taps into the wealth of oral and performance traditions, the rhythms, the sounds and the messages of speech and song. The British Council hopes that Power In The Voice will enable people to develop skills in performance in poetry, story-telling, rap and a variety related arts through taking part in an exciting programme of competitions, collaborative workshops, exhibitions and talks.

Initially, 18 schools were selected for the project but only 14 proceeded to the semi-finals.
