Local artistes act against music piracy

While authorities are seemingly dragging their feet in addressing music piracy, artists are flexing their muscles in a bid to combat the illicit practice.

On Monday two Zimbabwean men, who had been making "big bucks" in Botswana through illegally reproduced music CD and DVD sales, found themselves in hot water when a group of top local artistes stormed their house in Orapa and confiscated the pirated materials.

Franco, Shumba Ratshega, Gong Master and Jeff Matheatau literally took the law into their own hands to ensure the Zimbabweans would never again reproduce or sell their CDs.
