Initiation Schools Inspires Drama Groups

It was a question of who is the best in cultural expression at the 2009 BOTA/Department of Arts & Culture HIV/AIDS national drama finals held at Gaborone's Maitisong hall on Friday night.

With all the four finalists working so hard to replicate the recently held Bakgatla initiation schools, it was the Mochudi drama group, Maranyane, who prevailed in painting the best picture.

They come from Mochudi, some of them might even have graduated from the recent Bakgatla initiation schools. When it came to imitating the Bakgatla culture on stage, the Mochudi outfit warded off strong challenges from other ambitious groups, to be declared BOTA National Drama Champions for the umpteenth time, with their actress, "Mma Lucas" also bagging the covted P5000 cash for Best Actress.
