Controversy dogs BOMU as old guard won't budge

It seems controversy and Botswana Musicians Union are inseparable. Just two weeks ago the elections for the new executive committee were marred by controversy when only a handful turned up for the balloting.

By the following morning reports were rife that some aspirants who lost were complaining about electoral malpractices.But just as some music lovers thought the dust was settling a fresh controversy has erupted.

The new committee is accusing the old members of "doing everything in their power to cling on to power". The old guard were supposed to hand over last week Thursday but that has not happed, thus attracting a protest from the "new brooms," who are accusing their colleagues of applying double standards.
