Notwane ended their Debswana First Division South League campaign with a 2-0 victory over Lesirane on Saturday.
The two teams faced each other under contrasting fortunes with Notwane already promoted to the Premier League while Lesirane also just honoured the fixture following their relegation to the second division.
Notwane booked their Premier League berth a fortnight ago with a win over Mochudi Rovers with a game remaining before they played their last game in the lower division.
Against Lesirane, Notwane put most of their regular players on the bench with only Amos Godirwang, Tlhalefo Molebatsi and Falkirk Shabane as the senior players in the starting 11. Lesirane on the other hand brought only 11 players to the game with the rest of the players said to have decided to stay home with the team already relegated.
Notwane took the lead in the 38th minute through an own goal from defender, Ronald Enosa to sum up Lesirane’s miserable season. The defender beat his goalkeeper, Victor Oodira trying to clear a dangerous ball played into the penalty area by Notwane. Lesirane failed to create scoring opportunities while Notwane on the other
In the second half, Notwane were awarded a penalty after Israel was fouled inside the box by Lesirane goalkeeper. Raymond Israel found himself one-on-one with the goalkeeper and rounded him before Oodira fould him.
Referee, Lekgotla Johannes pointed to the spot and Shabane stepped up to send the goalkeeper the wrong way. Substitute, Ishmael Amponsah also had the same opportunity when he found himself with only the goalkeeper to beat but he hit the upright.
