Former ECCO City Greens striker, Bonolo Fraizer debuted for the hosts after completing a move from Miscellaneous in the midweek. Fraizer, who lasted for slightly over 70 minutes, was very lively for the most part of the match.

TAFIC started the match on a very high note and were rewarded for their efforts in the 14th minute when another former ECCO forward, Onkemetse Powe found the bottom right with a neat tap-in after receiving a neat cross from the right.

Had it not been for the visitors’ goalkeeper, Tumisang Selolwane, TAFIC would have won by an avalanche of goals.  On many occasions, in the first half Santos looked less promising when going forward. Only attacking midfielder Ogomoditse Sitang looked lively, but defender Samuel Phiri easily dealt with his few deliveries. Even TAFIC goalkeeper, Lesego Bosekeng was turned into a mere spectator in the first stanza.

With 24 minutes into play, Selolwane came off his line to block a dangerous ball after Upoga Dikesha had made his way past defender Goitsemodimo Zoko. TAFIC were again unlucky to extend their lead in the 29th minute. Fraizer’s powerful shot that appeared destined for a goal went inches wide.

The visitors could have found the equaliser a minute from half time, but were denied by the cross bar after Sitang connected well with a cross from the right.

In the first 10 minutes

of the second half, TAFIC appeared to have run out of steam and lost a lot of possession. There were notable instances in the second half where their defence was caught napping, but Santos failed to capitalise.

In the 50th minute, Sitang once again exhibited lack of predatory instincts when he shot over the bar instead of tapping the ball into the net. He had connected with another cross from the right. TAFIC nearly put the match beyond reach seconds later, but attacking midfielder, Molebatsi Kangangwani’s well taken long range shot went inches wide after he was set up by substitute, Michael Murirwa.

Santos substitute, Tumelo Sentle missed what could been termed the best chance of the match in the 75th minute when he shot wide with goalkeeper the only man to beat.

Santos’ woes worsened seconds later when Lebogang Kabo was shown his marching orders for using foul language.  Just moments before the red card, he was cautioned for a dangerous tackle on speedy forward, Uyapo Thibathuwe.  The match eventually ended in favour of TAFIC.
