DJ Izzy celebrates a decade in music

DUMISANI NCUBE
DJ Izzy assembled a line up consisting of only local artists
Award winning disc jockey, DJ Izzy will celebrate a decade in the music industry by hosting a 100% local line up music concert dubbed TenUp.

The concert is scheduled to take place on September 29 at Stanbic Bank Molapo Piazza with a line up of 10 local DJs, 10 artists and a surprise local act to be mentioned towards the event.

“This is me celebrating a decade in the music industry and I never thought I would survive this long due to the challenges and struggles that we come across everyday. It’s an achievement I never thought I would reach this far,” said DJ Izzy in an interview.

Unlike some promoters and artists who engage international artists as main acts, DJ Izzy decided to have a line up consisting of only local artists to prove that they are capable of providing great entertainment.

“Over the past 10 years I have felt cheated with international acts being given first class treatment in terms of everything including payments. Therefore as I celebrate10 years I want to do it with a local line up and prove that we are worth it,” he said.

The line up has a mixed bag of artists such as

Ban T, Chubbito, Vee Mampeezy, DJ Ozi The Great, Kast, Scar, Veezo and Mr O to mention but a few. DJ Izzy stated that critics have gone on to ask if he will manage to bring in large numbers of revelers but he was quick to state that his real friends and supporters will come through and help him celebrate his decade in the music industry.  With controversy surrounding musical concerts, DJ Izzy stated that the event would have maximum security since he has partnered with a local security company with vast experience. The team behind the TenUp event has announced that bottles are not allowed at the event.

Despite being in the music industry for a decade he stated that the rewards have not been as good as they should be. With 10 years in the music industry DJ Izzy is scheduled to release his debut album before the end of the year. He has released a number of singles such as Nijel Amos, Banana, Razi, Bobbing and Dabbing.
