Speaking to the official Netball Singapore website, Chin said after holding a smooth selection for the games they are now working on keeping the squad fit.

“We are monitoring the team’s training load very closely and with the support from the National Youth Sports Institution we are able to gain a more in-depth understanding of their wellness and fatigue levels. This has been instrumental in ensuring that our training programme sustain their bodies.”

“My target will be to support the team to achieve their team goal whilst staying injury-free and for them to compete at a world level with the right mindset and attitude,” she said.

The 35-year-old was appointed the head coach of the Under-21 team earlier this year after serving as an assistant for several years. She won her first trophy when she guided the team to the Asian Youth Netball Championships glory

in May. She said the tournament was very important in their preparations for the games as they continue to develop future national team players.

“My key goal is to enhance individual player’s repertoire and hopefully they can be the right fit for the Opens squad (senior team) in the future. I strongly believe in displaying high work ethics and commitment as national athlete.

They also need to take ownership and accountability in playing their role in a team environment,” she said.

Singapore is pitted in Pool B against 2013 silver medallists, Australia, Barbados, African giants South Africa and an emerging netball force in Zimbabwe.

The team started their preparations early this year. They have been doing extensively well together in Perth, New Zealand for a training tour and taking part in the national M1 Netball Super League under a tag name, M1 Sunshine.
