Botswana Athletics Association (BAA) has admitted ignoring cross country runners in favour of track events. Cross country runners have never received convincing attention from the association despite the potential.

BAA treasurer, Brian Mosweu admitted to Mmegi Sport yesterday that the association has never given cross country the attention it deserves. He said the focus has always been on track events.  Mosweu said BAA has structures meant to develop cross country runners.

“We have structures in place and we are working on ways of packaging them so they work and bring us results. We always send athletes to compete at international cross country events, but none of them performed well,” Mosweu said.
