Ashford Mamelodi says he has no regrets after he retired as FIFA development officer on December 31, ending a largely successful 16-year stay.

A popular figure in the region and beyond, Mamelodi said he “enjoyed every moment of his stay” working for the world soccer governing body, the first Motswana to hold such a post.

In an a wide ranging interview yesterday, Mamelodi, who turns 58 in August said his health and age were the primary reasons he decided to step down.
