Although former High Court judge, Unity Dow has been described as one of the strongest women parliamentary candidates from the ruling party, her recent launch painted a different picture. The Mochudi West Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) hopeful attracted a sparse crowd at her launch, casting doubts about her chances in what is currently an opposition stronghold.


Dow won the BDP primary elections last year against former Botswana Football Association (BFA) chief executive officer, Tosh Kgotlele. The former judge said they have since made peace with her opponent and she will easily win in the general elections later this year.
