LOBATSE: The women football team’s hopes of qualifying for the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations suffered a blow when they lost 2-0 to South Africa in the first leg played on Saturday. Botswana now faces an uphill task of trying to overturn the result when the two sides meet tomorrow in the second leg.

The game was evenly contested right from the start with the local side giving the visiting team little respect.

Captain, Bonang Otlhagile commanded the midfield and competed well against her South African opponents while Tlamelo Motlhale was solid at the back and made several timely interventions.
