BCL security chief Noah Makaba has emerged as a leading favourite to become Nico United chairman. Ahead of the Nico Annual General Meeting (AGM) this evening, Makaba has confirmed to Monitor Sport that he is going for the seat currently held by the retiring Mack William. Sources within Nico say that Makaba is a favourite for the seat because of his security background.

"They want to rope Makaba in because they believe he will use his investigative skills to outwit those who leak information to the media," said a source. The Selebi-Phikwe club has been hit by divisions among officials and hopefully after today's elections there will be a closing of ranks and harmony. The elections will be held in Area 1 of Selebi-Phikwe. The outgoing committee has been accused of making unpopular decisions that did harm than good to the team.

"The most infamous decision that the committee made was to relegate Paymaster (Dintwa) and Peter (Mochina) from the technical bench when Madinda (Ndlovu) was roped in as the head coach. The guys had done well to guide the team to avoid relegation last season," a source told Monitor Sport. The duo did not take their demotion kindly and subsequently Dintwa resigned a very bitter man. Mochina has since been made assistant coach.
