Ngele sets SA's PSL alight

*Among leading scorers

Zebras' midfielder, Mogakolodi 'Tsotso' Ngele continued to establish himself as one of the most feared marksmen in South Africa's ABSA Premiership scoring a brace against Bidvest Wits on Wednesday night that saw Stars climb within four points of league front-runners Kaizer Chiefs. Ryan Chapman had put Wits upfront in the 21st minute before Ngele found the equaliser on the brink of half time and then converting a penalty on the hour mark to seal the win.  The win kept Stars in the hunt for the league title with five matches to play before the end of the season.

To add cherry to the icing, the game marked a historic feat for Stars as they notched their 100th league win in their 10 seasons playing in the South African top-flight league. They are only the 15th team to achieve the milestone since the start of the PSL in the 1996/97 season. On a personal feat, Ngele took his season tally to nine goals, one goal shy of the three leading scorers who have 10 a piece.  The 22-year-old surpassed expectations in his maiden season in South Africa and, considering that he is not an all out striker, he has done a brilliant job to be in the race for the golden boot. He is often deployed as a second striker. The youngster has enjoyed his life at the Rustenburg based outfit where his combination with Namibian international Henrico Botes and South African international Thuso Phala have become a menace for many defences.  He took his trademark corner dance celebration to the PSL and it has since become a popular feature in the league's highlights. The former Santos and Township Rollers star's influence at Stars this season has been overwhelming. Just this past weekend, the team made it to the semi finals of the coveted Nedbank Cup where they will face Mogogi Gabonamong's Supersport United.
