Kalavango in Bright star

Kalavango women increased their chances of winning the Mascom volleyball league as they defeated Magstimela 3-0 as the second round of the Mascom Volleyball League kicked off on Saturday.

Kalavango showed that they came with only one intention from the first whistle, giving their less fancied opponents less chances of playing the ball. The star studded Kalavango relied much on experience when the going got tough. The likes of Lizzy Gasekgonwe, Gabaresepe Mashaole and Monica Alfred were a marvel to watch as they led the onslaught for their side. But after losing the first set 25-16 Magstimela refused to give up. They continued with their fighting spirit in the second set giving their elder sisters a good competition with Lorato Chizake and Oreeditse Motabe outstanding in the attack and defence respectively. Although they put a spirited fight their opponents proved to be too good taking the second and third sets  25-15.

Kalavango closed the weekend at the summit of the log after another win against another struggling side Spiking Stars yesterday. Kalavango took advantage of their rivals Kutlwano who had a bye on the weekend. In other women games played on Saturday, Spartans beat Dynamites 3-1. But Spartans lost 3-0 to Mafolofolo. In the men's games, Mafolofolo beat Spiking Stars 3-2 and  Kalavango beat Magstimela 3-1.
